Dear all , I hope everyone is doing their best training up consistently for the coming competition - POLITE Juniors, please make sure that you are completing the 12 sets per week quota. MALAYSIAN ARCHERS LACK EXPERIENCE SAYS COACH JAE-HYUNG

Image
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 (Bernama) -- Inexperience to compete at the highest level like the Olympics had cost the recurve archers dearly in Beijing, said national archery coach Lee Jae-hyung . The trio of Mohd Marbawi Sulaiman, Wan Mohd Khalmizan Wan Abdul Aziz and Cheng Chu Sian, the world number five failed to make the quarter-final losing to Italy 213-218. Jae-hyung who returned today said the intimidating atmosphere at the Olympics proved too much for the archers who were making their debut. "It had nothing to do with their mental. They had managed to overcome fear and were not afraid of their oppponents," said the coach from South Korea. In the individual event, Chu Sian made it to the quarter-final while Mohd Marbawi and Mohd Khalmizan crashed out in the first round. Chu Sian who upset Olympic record holder Lee Chang Hwan of South Korea to make the quarter-final lost to Bair Badenov of Russia 109-104. "The Olympics cannot be compared to the Asian and Commonwealth Games

This coming Saturday's training will be very similar to the one we had today(thursday) . Everyone to complete 4sets of shooting; equivalent to 144 arrows. Juniors who are going/planning to shoot short distance/blanks, please justify why you need to shoot there. Make sure you know why you are going to the short distance to shoot . Those who hit 300 and above for the first set can proceed to 30m to shoot. Seniors, try to come over to normal distance to shoot and take score. If you know that there is training the next day , then prepare the day before . Example : fletching of your arrows, re-serving of your string, redoing nocking point, replacing your arrow rest . Lets not waste precious time doing that on training hours aite . If all goes well, we can end training by 2.30pm -benjamin,benny,benji,ben

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Image
(Picture is not related to the article.) The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly By KIM SEONG-KON SEOUL: Movie buffs still remember Sergio Leone’s monumental film The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly , which portrays three outlaws determined to find a cashbox containing $200,000 hidden in an unmarked grave. A huge success, the film was the first of the so-called “spaghetti Westerns”, making Clint Eastwood an overnight celebrity. Eastwood was “the Good”, Eli Wallach was “the Bad”, and Lee Van Cleef was “the Ugly”. The same metaphor seems to fit appropriately for the South Korean athletes who participated in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. To the eyes of the Korean people, only gold medalists are considered good, and silver and bronze medalists are bad and ugly. Considering this, it is interesting to note how our silver and bronze medalists shed tears of grief and regret after winning such glorious medals. Our newspapers displayed photos of a grief-stricken, sobbing Korean athlete who won a bronze
