I know i should have done this a long time ago. I am going to post up the guidelines of a mentor. If my memory serves me right, this is the first time we are seriously going to have this system because the last year and the previous years we had a coach. Mentor: A mentor will have 3~4 Juniors attached to him/her. The mentor will be solely responsible for this archer's form/equipment. It is the mentor's responsibility to go ask/search if he/she does not know the right way shooting is done. The mentor has to be fair and equal at all times (cannot show favoritism) It is encouraged that mentors to give instructions to juniors to train at home or when they are free. This includes Tuesdays (before 5pm as PT starts after 5pm) & Thursdays. It is also encouraged that mentors teach their allocated juniors only, please curb the urge to teach another junior who is not allocated to you . This is to prevent confusion of instructions . Lastly, please do not teach something foreign. Please

This post is delicated to female archers-male archers can still read them =)

Looking at the both picture, you can see that both of our girls are shooting with a "bent" arm(still subjective as it is still an on-going debate; i see it as bent) . There are some on-going talk about this in the forums, do take a look. Archery Interchange 1.1 Archery Interchange 1.2 (same topic another discussion ) Archery Forum It is not wrong to shoot with a bent arm so long alignment is right and also not compromising clearance for the arrow. There are very good archers scoring 1200 ++ on a full fita having that kind of arm too, this is due to body structure , for some people, it can be changed, some just adapt. Some of the juniors might have this problem too, feel free to ask your mentor, they will try your best to answer your question and help you. -benjamin
Dear all, Here's a gentle reminder, all archers are to bring a towel and a bottle which can contain up to at least 1L of water for every Saturday training. Those who are not able to get these things to the field will have to contribute a dollar to the club's fund. And the money collected will be use for club's BBQ and etc. PS: Hui Fang, please remeber to bring a tin for the money. Thank you. =D -Silie
Dear archers, On this coming Saturday, it will be The Pinnacle. All are to report at 6.45am. As for the juniors, you can choose to come or not. But I strongly encourage everyone of you to come down to help as it will be a good exposure to all of you guys. In brief, The Pinnacle is a race event whereby around 80 teams of 2 will start out from Zhenghua CC and race all the way to our school and archery is one of the stations. We will further brief you guys on what's happening on the day itself. As for training, we will have resume once The Pinnacle ends. I request that you give me your response during training this coming Thursdays and if there are any doubts, feel free approach us. grace (:

GB :This question may have been asked before, but can anyone assist by advising how the name designation of left handed bow and right handed bow came about as the bow is held in the opposite hand to shoot. JA :we say right or left hand based on which hand is doing the drawing. So a left handed riser means that its grip is designed for the right hand as the left does the drawing...it is a little confusing when you think about it.. MARCUS :I believe the terms date way back before the metric system. Bottom Dweller : In the Roman empire those archers who would draw the bow back with their left hand were considered to be possessed by the devil. The latin word for left is "sinistra", which evolved into today's word "sinister". On the other hand (hehe), those archers that draw the bow back with their right hand were considered to be very able. The latin word for right is "dextra". Which evolved into today's word "dexterous". But somehow calling

Indoor archery FITA rules 8.6.2.2 If more than the required number of arrows should be found in the target butt or on the floor near the target butt or in the shooting lanes, only the three (or six) lowest in value will be scored. Athletes (or teams) found to repeat this offence may be disqualified. 8.6.2.3 When triple faces are used, arrows may be shot in any order, but if more than one arrow is shot into the same scoring area, both (or all) arrows count as part of that end, but only the lowest value arrow will score. The other arrow, or arrows, in the same spot will be scored as a miss, or as misses. Any arrow missing the outermost blue six (6) zone will be scored as a miss. FITA Judges Guidebook gives you answer: 5.3.1 “Double error” situations At indoor and field events we have three-center faces and a special rule saying that if two arrows are in the same center, the lower scoring arrow scores the actual value while the other arrow scores a miss (M). On occasions the archer adds

Our club will receive this award during the Annual Awards and Appreciation Night. =) We also have quite a no. of archers nominated for Full and Half Colours Award as well. Ms June would like to congratulate all graduated as well as current archers for our acheivements. So let's all keep up the good work and strive to do better and prove ourselves worthy of the awards! Three cheers to NP Archery!!! -jialin
